Carroll vs Batyrgaziev interim title fight set for July 12

Carroll vs Batyrgaziev interim title fight set for July 12

Do you recall how the WBA initially declared Jono Carroll as the mandatory challenger for Lamont Raoch Jr’s super featherweight title, only to allow Roach to fight Feargal McCrory instead? Well, it seems they have made some changes to the arrangement, with Carroll now set to face Tokyo gold medalist Albert Batyrgaziev for the interim title on July 12th at the IBA Champions’ Night in Serpukhov, Russia.

The event will likely be available for streaming on their official platform. It might also be featured on their BoxRec pages, similar to Eduardo Nunez’s recent knockout of Shavkat Rakhimov.

Batyrgaziev, with a record of 10-0, made a name for himself as an Olympic featherweight with victories over Lazaro Alvarez, Duke Ragan, and Erdenebat Tsendbaatar. Despite being relatively new to the pro scene, he has faced challenging opponents and come out on top.

Carroll, on the other hand, holds a record of 24-2-1 and hasn’t fought since defeating Miguel Marriaga in June of last year. He has had some notable wins and losses in his career, including a stoppage victory over Scott Quigg and a surprising defeat to Maxi Hughes.

This upcoming bout between Batyrgaziev and Carroll seems like a significant moment in their careers and promises to be more intriguing than the previous title fight. The question now arises about the fate of Otar Eranosyan, who was supposed to fight Roach after Carroll.
