Emanuel Navarrete vs Oscar Valdez rematch ordered by WBO

The World Boxing Organization has mandated a rematch between Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez to unify their titles in a highly anticipated showdown.

Despite Navarrete’s recent setback in a move up to lightweight, where he lost to Denys Berinchyk, he remains the WBO super featherweight champion. On the other hand, Valdez claimed the interim WBO title by defeating Liam Wilson earlier this year.

Their first encounter in 2023 saw Navarrete emerge victorious with a convincing unanimous decision. Since then, Navarrete has faced a draw and a loss, while Valdez has only fought once, securing a win over Wilson.

Negotiations between the teams have been initiated, with a 20-day deadline to reach an agreement before the fight could potentially go to a purse bid. However, given that both fighters are under Top Rank, the process should run smoothly as long as there are no unrealistic demands from either side.
