‘I got to go get what’s mines’: Wilder looking to put on vintage performance against Zhang

Leading up to his upcoming fight on June 1 against Zhilei Zhang, Deontay Wilder took to social media to connect with his fans and share his renewed focus on returning to his roots as the dominant force in the ring that he once was. In a reflective moment captured on camera, Wilder expressed his excitement for the training camp, emphasizing his sharpened focus, mindset, and heightened aggression leading up to the fight.

Wilder confidently stated, “It’s been a real fun camp. It’s been exciting. My focus has been on point. My mindset has been on point. My aggression has been off the chart, and I’m ready to go. I could say a lot of things but on June 1st, it’s going to be the revealing, and everyone will witness what I’ve been saying.”

He continued, “I feel like I’m ready, sound like I’m ready, look like I’m ready in all aspects of it, you understand me? It’s been a long journey for me.”

Reflecting on a conversation with a higher power, Wilder shared, “God told me, ‘why are you trying to modify what I’ve already built for you? I have already made you great, why are you trying to modify greatness?’ He reminded me that he made me different, not like everyone else, and I needed to embrace that uniqueness.”

With a renewed sense of purpose, Wilder acknowledged his past errors in trying to conform to others’ expectations and pledged to return to the qualities that propelled him to success. As he looks ahead to the fight on June 1, Wilder declared, “I’m back. I’m going back to get what’s mine.”
