Jack Catterall vs Regis Prograis set for Aug. 24 in Manchester

Jack Catterall is set to make his return to the boxing ring on August 24th, taking on Regis Prograis in a highly anticipated DAZN main event in Manchester, England.

The 30-year-old Catterall, with a record of 29-1 and 13 knockouts, last fought on May 25th, securing a victory over Josh Taylor in a rematch that settled their controversial 2022 bout where Catterall suffered his only defeat so far.

Prograis, aged 35 with a record of 29-2 and 24 knockouts, recently suffered a lopsided loss to Devin Haney in December 2023, relinquishing the WBC super lightweight title in the process. His performances in 2023, including a narrow win over Danielito Zorrilla, were less than stellar.

While Catterall’s win over Taylor may have been more about settling a personal score, it is commendable to see him back in action so soon, even if Prograis seems to be past his prime as well.

With limited opportunities for bigger fights in the division, staying active is a wise choice for Catterall, who has spent a significant amount of time waiting on Taylor in recent years.

For Prograis, the upcoming fight is a chance to reestablish himself in the 140-pound weight class, while for Catterall, it is another opportunity to prove himself as a top contender at the weight.
