WBA Future Champion returns to Venezuela

Gleybert “Canelito” Maia, Diego Carbajal, and Andru Solarte, promising young boxers from Venezuela, are set to shine in the upcoming fifth edition of the WBA Future Champion program. The event will take place on Saturday, June 29th in Maracay, Aragua State, at the Centro Recreacional Yesterday.

The venue will host a series of eight bouts featuring emerging Venezuelan professional boxers. “Canelito Maia, a bantamweight fighter from Miranda, will be looking to continue his winning streak in his fifth professional fight. He has impressed audiences with his skill and determination in previous bouts, earning praise from the WBA. His latest victory came in March against Frank Rodriguez, whom he defeated with a unanimous decision.

Diego Carbajal, competing in the featherweight division, will be entering the ring for the third time. His previous two victories have been hard-fought battles, including his recent win in May against Aiverson Caldera in Maracaibo.

Super featherweight Andru Solarte will be making his debut in his home country in only his second professional fight. He made a strong first impression in 2021 by defeating Colombian Edgardo Jose Garcia by technical knockout in Puerto Colombia.

The WBA Future Champions program aims to develop young boxing talent and has already made its mark in Panama, the United States, Colombia, and upcoming events in Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Spain. The program will also be featured in the Intercontinental Tournament in Mexico City on June 22-23 and the second edition of the Future Champions tournament at the Baby Bull Academy on July 12, sponsored by the WBA Future Champion program.
